The UV Cares team has been busy, participating in volunteer activities in our community. UV Cares is an employee led group, directed towards volunteerism, motivating one another through love and good works.
In October, the team and their families, along with 150 other generous volunteers, helped pack 15,000 meal boxes at the Community Food Bank warehouse in Fresno, California. 38 million pounds of food are distributed annually to help end hunger in the Central Valley.
For #GivingTuesday, the global giving movement, held on November 27, 2018, the team wrote thank you letters to troops overseas for the Central Valley Blue Star Mothers of America. In addition, a group visited the Animal Compassion Team (ACT) to volunteer time with homeless animals. The ACT focuses on homeless pets in Fresno County and the surrounding areas and provides relief for many rural shelters that have no adoption programs.
Coming up, the team is preparing to host a Keeping Youth Journeying Onward (KYJO) Angel tree and will be collecting items for the Veteran’s Administration Community Living Center. The team is also covering shifts for The Salvation Army red kettle bell ringing.
