United Valley recently launched a summer business intern program for current college students and recent college graduates with an interest in exploring the insurance industry. Eric Rasmussen, Member Relationship Manager and Monika Aguirre, Member Relationship Manager led the launch of the program.
Nick Perkins, a college student at Arizona State University was selected for the intern position and reported to Elizabeth Newland, Member Service Team Manager. He completed the program on August 9, 2018.
“During my employment with United Valley, I gained a lot of experience, not only working in insurance, but about business as a whole. It was a great opportunity to see how education can play a role within a company by getting to personally work with those directly involved in the field. The time I spent at United Valley is an important stepping stone for my future jobs. I would recommend this internship to other college students who are interested in the insurance industry,” said Nick Perkins.
The intern program included introductions to all departments at United Valley, plus working with the United Valley service team, as well as a special project that Nick chose, based on his interests in analytics. Nick had the opportunity to work with United Valley’s Business Analyst, Michael O’Dell and contributed to a project on building out key data points. Nick concluded his time at United Valley with a presentation of his project to the leadership team.
