Group Health Insurance

A group health insurance policy is an employer-sponsored health coverage plan for business employers, employees, and often times for their dependents.

A majority of Americans rely on group health coverage to manage their families’ health-related expenses, as it is often a more affordable alternative to purchasing an individual health insurance policy. Employers and employees can share costs and there are even special tax incentives available to businesses that provide group health coverage.

HOW DOES GROUP HEALTH INSURANCE WORK?

Your independent insurance agent will help you select a group health insurance plan that’s right for your business. Once you’ve selected your policy, you will then invite your employees to enroll.

Employers determine the percentage of premium they will contribute to the employee’s monthly premium and can also contribute to dependent premiums. Many employers also provide other group benefits, like life insurance, accident insurance, or dental and vision coverage. These can be paid for by the employer, by the employee, or some combination of premium-sharing.

IS GROUP HEALTH INSURANCE RIGHT FOR MY BUSINESS?

Offering group health insurance provides an excellent incentive for hiring and retaining the best workers, and the amount you pay toward employee premiums may be tax-deductible.

If you want to provide health insurance benefits to your employees and you’re able to contribute toward their monthly insurance premiums, group health insurance is a great option for your business.

HOW MANY EMPLOYEES DO I NEED TO QUALIFY FOR A GROUP HEALTH INSURANCE PROGRAM?

With as few as two employees, you may qualify for group health insurance. Group health insurance plans are often underwritten more broadly than individual health insurance plans, so even a small group with pre-existing medical conditions should consider the group health insurance plan as an option.
